Tuesday,   23-Apr-2024   09:34 AM (IST)

Indian shares opened higher on Tuesday, tracking a rebound in global markets as risk sentiment improved, led by gains in information technology stocks. The Nifty was up 0.28% to 22,399.25 as of 9:25 a.m. IST, while the Sensex gained 0.30% to 73,863.43. Asian markets opened higher, while U.S. equities closed up overnight, as investors scaled back safe-haven bets, leading to a drop in gold prices. Twelve of the 13 major sectors logged gains, with heavy-weight IT stocks gaining 0.5%. The broader, more domestically-focussed small and mid-caps rose about 0.6% each, at the open.
