Wholesale inflation slips to 3.07 percent in April

India's wholesale inflation, as measured by the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), slipped to 3.07 percent in April, as against 3.18 percent in March, data published by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry showed on Tuesday. The core inflation data for the month of April was at 1.90 percent as compared to 2.50 percent in the previous month. Wholesale inflation in food rose to 4.95 percent as against 3.89 percent in March. Vegetable inflation soared to 40.65 percent against 28.13 percent in March. WPI inflation in primary articles also fell to 6.50 percent versus 5.07 percent in the previous month. Data released by the government showed fuel and power inflation slipped to 3.84 percent as against 5.41 percent in March. The non-food articles inflation rose to 5.23 percent in April, compared to 2.23 percent in the previous month.
