Sensex, Nifty volatile

Benchmark indices opened Friday's session with marginal gains. The S&P BSE Sensex added 29 points, or 0.07 per cent, to 38,851, with YES Bank, NTPC, Reliance Industries, Tech Mahindra, and HDFC among the top gainers. The broader Nifty50 index added 8 points to 11,591. The Nifty sectoral indices were trading mixed, with Nifty PSU Bank and Nifty Auto, down 0.5 per cent each, taking the biggest cut. In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index was hovering around 14,533 levels, up 39 points, or 0.27 per cent, while the S&P BSE SmallCap index was ruling at 13,773, up 18 points, or 0.13 per cent.
