Indices open higher, Nifty past 11k

Benchmark indices opened flat with a positive bias on Wednesday, tracking their Asian peers. The S&P BSE Sensex was up 89 points, or 0.24 per cent, at 37,230 levels. YES Bank, Tata Motors, Vedanta, Tata Steel, and IndusInd Bank were the top gainers in the Sensex pack. The broader Nifty50 index was hovering around 11,020 levels, up 27 points, or 0.24 per cent. All the Nifty sectoral indices, except Nifty IT, were trading in the green. Nifty Metal and Nifty Auto indexes, both gained over 1 per cent each, while Nifty IT index dipped 0.2 per cent. In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index climbed 48 points, or 0.36 per cent, to 13,540 levels, and the S&P BSE SmallCap index was up 37 points, or 0.3 per cent.
