Sensex, Nifty volatile; financials gains

Indian markets were trading in the positive territory on Wednesday. The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex was trading 65 points, or 0.18 per cent, higher at 37,597 level in the early morning deals with Mahindra & Mahindra (up 1.47 per cent) emerging as the top gainer. YES Bank slipped 6 per cent on the 30-share index to trade as the top loser. On NSE, the Nifty50 was trading 7 points, or 0.06 per cent, higher at 11,133-mark. Sectorally, most of the indices were trading in the green. Nifty Bank index was the top gainer of the day, up 184 points, or 0.67 per cent, to trade at 27,952.3 level. This was followed by gains in Nifty Private bank index (up 0.50 per cent), and Nifty Financial Services (up 0.42 per cent). On the downside, Nifty IT index slipped the most, down 0.57 per cent. In the broader market, the S&P BSE mid-cap index was up 0.24 per cent. The S&P BSE small-cap index was trading 0.16 per cent higher.
