Sensex down 150 pts

Markets opened lower on Thursday. The S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 38,034 in the early mornings deals. Only 5 out of the 30-shares at the Sensex were trading in the green. Bharti Airtel, up 6 per cent, was the top gainers, followed by Reliance Industries (up 0.9 per cent), and ONGC (0.4 per cent). On the downside, YES Bank was trading over 3 per cent lower, followed by ICICI Bank (down 1.8 per cent), and SBI (down 1.7 per cent). On NSE, the broader Nifty50 index was at 11,280-mark. Sectorally, all the indices were in the red. Nifty Bank index declined by 300 points to trade at 28,484 level in the early trade. Nifty PSU Bank index (1.35 per cent), Nifty Private Bank index (down 0.99 per cent), and Nifty Financial services index (down 0.8 per cent) were other losers. The broader markets were performing better than the benchmarks. The S&P BSE mid-cap index was trading 0.14 per cent lower at 13,850 level, while the S&P BSE small-cap index was down 0.08 per cent at 12,786 level.
