Sensex gains over 500 pts as PM assures return to growth

The Indian markets were trading firm, over 1.5 per cent higher each, on Tuesday, lifted mainly by auto, and pharma stocks, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured that India would get its growth back. Speaking at CII's annual session, Modi said making the economy strong post Covid-19 is the top priority now and that his government was making planned and systematic reforms. The S&P BSE Sensex was up over 550 points at 33,858 levels, and the Nifty50 index was ruling above the 9,980 level. Bajaj Finance and Kotak Mahindra Bank (both up 4 per cent) were the top Sensex gainers, followed by Mahindra & Mahindra and Bajaj Finance (both up 3 per cent ecah). All the Nifty sectoral indices were trading in the green, led by Nifty Auto and Nifty Pharma indexes, both up over 1 per cent.
