Sensex up 650 pts, Nifty tests 10,800

Benchmark indices rose over a per cent on Wednesday, lifted mainly by tech stocks and Reliance Industries. The S&P BSE Sensex was trading around 36,686 levels, up 650 points, having earlier risen to as high as 36,810 levels. The broader Nifty50 index was testing the 10,800 level. Infosys gained 6 per cent ahead of the announcement of its June quarter results later in the day. Moreover, Wipro surged 15 per cent after reporting better-than-expected quarterly numbers. All the Nifty sectoral indices were trading in the green, led by Nifty IT index, up 5 per cent.
