Sensex, Nifty remain subdued; pharma gains, financials drag

Benchmark indices continued to trade lower in Monday's afternoon session, weighed down by financials. The S&P BSE Sensex is trading 299 points, or 0.78 per cent, lower at 38,038, with Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank, HDFC, IndusInd Bank, and Kotak Bank among the top losers. The broader Nifty50 index cracked 85 points,or 0.74 per cent, to 11,334. All the Nifty sectoral indices, except Nifty IT and Nifty Metal indexes, were trading in the red. While Nifty Realty index bled the most 2.07 per cent, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Private Bank, and Nifty Bank indexes were all down over 1 per cent. In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index was down 164 points, or 1.17 per cent, to 13,914, while the S&P BSE SmallCap index was down 206 points, or 1.54 per cent, to 13,104.
