Sensex, Nifty open flat

Benchmark indices are trading higher in Friday's early morning session after a flat opening, lifted by gains in metal and autos. The S&P BSE Sensex was up 103 points or 0.28 per cent to 37,210 levels. Axis Bank, Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, ONGC, and Bajaj Auto were the top gainers in the Sensex pack. The broader Nifty50 index zoomed past the 11,000-mark and was hovering around 11,020 levels, up 35 points, or 0.3 per cent. All the Nifty sectoral indices were trading in the green. Nifty Auto index, up 1.1 per cent, was the top gainer, while Nifty FMCG and Nifty Private bank indexes up 0.3 per cent each. In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index climbed 11 points, or 0.08 per cent, to 13,620 levels, and the S&P BSE SmallCap index surged 64 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 12,970 levels.
