Domestic markets were choppy on Wednesday amid nervousness in the global markets. The losses were, however, trimmed on buying in the banking counters ahead of the Supreme Court's hearing in the interest waiver case. The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 43,922 levels, down 31 points or 0.07 per cent with SBI, ICICI Bank, and IndusInd Bank -- up between 1 and 2 per cent -- supporting the 30-share index. The index earlier hit a low of 43,816.15 in morning deals. Shares of Lakshmi Vilas Bank tanked 20 per cent on the BSE after the government put the bank under moratorium till December 16. NSE's Nifty50, on the other hand, was hovering around 12,860 levels. Sectorally, NIfty PSB index gained 2 per cent on the NSE and was among the top gainers, followed by Nifty Realty index, up 1 per cent. On the downside, Nifty FMCG index slipped 0.8 per cent. In the broader markets, S&P BSE MidCap index extened its gains into 13th straight day, and was at 16,256 levels, up 0.7 per cent. The S&P BSE SmallCap index, meanwhile, was at 16,002 levels, up 0.6 per cent.
