Nifty hits 13k as indices log record peaks; Sensex up 300 pts

The Indian benchmark indices logged their respective fresh lifetime highs on Tuesday, on the back of favourable global cues. The S&P BSE Sensex gained 300 points at 44,380 levels and the broader Nifty50 index hit the psychological level of 13,000 for the first time ever. Maruti Suzuki gained 2 per cent and was the top Sensex gainer. Besides, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Larsen & Toubro, ICICI Bank, and Mahindra & Mahindra also gained 1 per cent, each. All the Nifty sectoral indices were trading in the green, led by Nifty Bank index, up 1.3 per cent.
